Open House Hunting in Park Slope

Checked out a few open houses today and came to the conclusion that we will never be able to afford something in Brooklyn!

OK, I tend to exaggerate.

A 750 square foot condo in park slope is going for $539K. The place was really cute. Small, but well laid out. Great kitchen, small living room, decent sized bedroom and a small balcony that can fit about 4 people comfortably.

An even smaller co-op on 9th street and 7th avenue (prime location) is going for $569K. This comes out to more than twice the amount of mortgage payment for what we currently pay in rent! The place was gorgeous though! Solid wood floors a greenhouse and a very nice sized backyard! Not mention it’s right on 7th avenue in the middle of bustling park slope. Place is great but would be about $3,500 a month! Geez-louise who are these people who can afford to live here I ask myself?

Gah. Finding an affordable home won’t be easy but we are not giving up.

About Maya

I like words like "labyrinthian," "kerfuffle," and "serendipitous" because they're mellifluous. I love poetry, pumpkin ales, sangria, long summer days, Fall foliage, going out of my way to step on crunchy leaves in October, live music, Jazz, Salsa dancing, theater, film (foreign and indie), the arts (myriad varieties), dance (in theory and practice) and any place where I can sit outdoors and take it all in.
