Brooklyn Bike Patrol

There is an organization in Brooklyn called ‘Brooklyn Bike Patrol‘ and they exist for the sole purpose of safely escorting women from subway stations to their homes in the late hours of the night. They operate from 8pm until 3:00am and sometimes as late as 4:30am.

All you have to do is call 718-744-7592.

They meet you anywhere in the neighborhood, be it a bar, restaurant, friend’s house, bus stop or subway station. It’s small organizations and groups like these whose work restores my faith in humanity 🙂

Brooklyn Bike Patrol, you get an A in my book!

Neighborhoods they cover: Sunset Park, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Kensington, Prospect Heights , Carroll Garden, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights and Bedstuy

About Maya

I like words like "labyrinthian," "kerfuffle," and "serendipitous" because they're mellifluous. I love poetry, pumpkin ales, sangria, long summer days, Fall foliage, going out of my way to step on crunchy leaves in October, live music, Jazz, Salsa dancing, theater, film (foreign and indie), the arts (myriad varieties), dance (in theory and practice) and any place where I can sit outdoors and take it all in.
